PREAMBLE :
The meeting started at 9.00 am with a word of prayer said by Mr. Khameti. The principal welcome the members to the meeting. MIN 1/1/2014: GENERAL SCHOOL PROFILE.
The principal gave a report about the progress the school has made since Usuenigirl’s became a local TRUST.
The school is currently having a total of 11 teachers, with eight government employed, two teachers supported by TAS and Board of Management and one PTA /BOM teacher. The school enrolment has tremendously increased from less than 150 students in 2009 to more than 250 students this year. The enrolment can be summarized as follows:
Form 4 – 50 students, Form 3- 46 students, Form 2 – 69 students and Form 1- 90 students. This year the school has recorded the highest number of students ever being admitted in form one, this can be attributed to the great support and confidence that the local community has for Usueni girls. TAS has highly contributed for this achievement. In addition to TAS Usueni girls also partners with other organizations such as The World Vision, Canadian Kids and Red Cross. This month the Red Cross had a dissemination meeting in which they registered and recruited a large number of students to be members of the Red Cross.
The school has a new deputy Principal who reported early this year.
As a result of the newly constructed staff houses funded by TAS more teachers can now be housed in the school.
MIN 2/1/2014 – ON GOING PROGRAMMES
After the renovation of piping system and purchase of a new more powerful water pump, water is now flowing in the school and the girls are longer fetching water from the nearby TanaRiver. Due to constant water supply in the school, the greenhouse has been revived for the growing of vegetables to supply the school and more trees have been planted and watering made easy . Following the adequate water supply in our school, cleanliness standard has been improved.
We have introduced a program that factors in cleaning patterns in order to make sure that our places
Of residence are habitable; as well as our facilities aiming at keeping them in favourable conditions. In addition the main banda is being renovated.
MIN 3/1/2014 – FUTURE PLANS
The members identified the following plans which the school is considering to undertake in the meantime.
(i) Distribution of electricity to dormitories, dining hall, staff houses and bandas.
(ii) Commercial banda equipping which is to be done by the end of this month.
(iii) Activities in the commercial banda to start by early match
(iv) Distribution of water to various points in the school
(v) Construction of two classrooms
(vi) Exposure tour for students.
(vii) Enhancing water storage
(viii) Increasing bed capacity in the dormitories.
(ix) More lockers and chairs for form one.
(x) Enhancing of cleanliness and organization of the Computer room.
MIN 4/1/2014- SPECIAL PROGRAMME FOR LAURA AND EDWARD.
Laura and Edward who visited and stayed in the school briefly in the year 2011 have always wanted to chip in and help in an identified project or programme in the school. The members were of the opinion that they help in enhancing the availability of facilities for games and support in order to improve on co-curriculum activities.
MIN 5/1/2014 – A.O.B
(i) The Computer Teacher informed the members that some of the computers supplied by Camara need immediate repair
(ii) Mr. Khameti informed the members that the teachers from Norbury manor in UK visit will still take place in May 2014.Necessary preparation for them very important.
