ASAKO PRIMARY SCHOOL LST MEETING HELD ON 8/6/2016 AT 10:20AM OUTSIDE THE TEACHERS’ QUARTERS (UNDER A TREE SHADE).

PRESENT

Opening  briefs.

The meeting stated with a world of prayer from Khalif Ibrahim. The head teacher led members present to introduce themselves. Then the head teacher briefed the present members about Asako primary. The members present were informed that Asako primary school has a population of 381 pupils from ECDE to std 8: 129 girls and 252 boys.  Most pupils are day scholars but a few are boarders. In boarding  there are  22 boys and 18 girls. Girls are very happy with the building facility which was build by TAS. Since the boarding facility for girls was built the number of girls has been  increasing  tremendously in the school. Girls have more time to interact with each other and teachers.

CHALLENGES

The challenges the school is facing now includes;

-         Lack of clean water in the school

-         No source of news for the learners  - no radio receiver, newspapers, TV  is available

-         inadequate class rooms

-         New BOM members who don’t know their roles.

-         Lack of role models/mentor

-         Lack of computer and printer for printing examination materials.

-         Lack of spacious  Administration block

REVAMPING OF TEACHERS QUARTERS

The chairman, Mr. Ismail Fodho Solola informed the meeting that the teachers were contributing 500/- each month. This contribution was meant for renovating school. Mr. Ismail assured the members that renovation  of the staff house will commence before end of June.

JOINING WILDLIFE CLUB OF KENYA

Mr. Moses Katumbi through the H/teacher encouraged Asako primary school to join WCK. He said membership fee for each student is 30/= and the 2 teacher each 150/= and the school 1000/=. The H/teacher assured him of his full commitment and cooperation to ensure that pupils of the school become WCK members.

KORA SECONDARY SCHOOL

The members present were informed that  a new secondary school was opened early this year. It is a mixed school Kora secondary school with a population of 24 students 17 boys: 7 girls. The school has no facilities,  it is being  hosted in Asako primary school DH.

PRIORITIES PROJECTS.

The members identified the following as top in his priority list

-         Revamping the teachers quarters

-         Exposure tour

-         Lighting the girls dormitory

-         Installing  news room with TV/DVD system

-         Get the school connected to clean water

-         Organizing for bench marking trip to a role model school

-         Purchase a small photocopier/ printer

-         Face lifting the school – painting the school and planting trees

If these are achieved it will make the school child friendly hence attract more children to come to school.
