NOTES OF A MEETING OF MITAMYSI SECONDARY SCHOOL TRUST

27 JANUARY 2017

Update on school:

The girls were ready to move in to the dormitory with their mattresses and trunks.

Science lab completion is awaiting release of CDF funds.  Should be soon.

Water – SK has scheduled a meeting with Just a Drop to discuss the provision of tanks.  The borehole nearby is defunct and currently students are walking 2km each way to get water from an earth dam.

Parents and the school fund raising

 A fund raising activity is planned for a boys dormitory and the purchase of some land abutting the school compound.

Entertainment was provided by the school students and the children from a nearby nursery.

New proposals for funding

TAS will consider proposals for classroom renovation, TV.DVD player, KICD teaching resources and benchmarking.

KWS will consider proposals for a borehole and a bus tour to Meru.  Also provision of some DVDs about conservation. 

Staffing

There are currently 2 TSC teachers including the headteacher.  The other teacher has been absent due to illness but is expected back shortly.  The HT and Chair of BOM are planning to visit the TSC to request more teachers.  SK may join them and GMA will write a letter of support.

Conservation

Mr Wilson Korir made an inspiring speech about conservation and the need for everyone in the area to conserve their fragile and beautiful environment.

Meeting ended at 2pm.
