Minutes:
NOTES OF A MEETING AT BOKA PRIMARY SCHOOL ON 29 AUGUST 2017
Present: Mohamed
Hussan Headteacher, Stephen Kameti
TAS/KWS co-ordinator, Gill
Marshall-Andrews.
School update:
The children and staff were returning after the
holidays. The classrooms looked in
fairly good condition. There is water in
the tanks and the dormitories are in use.
The fence is broken.
HT promised to get it mended but it really needs a more robust structure
to keep out the camels, cows and goats.
The laptops have not yet been used in class as the training
had to be postponed due to the election.(and now another election)
300 students are on roll excluding the ECD. The County government should have built a new
ECD classroom with solar power but have not done so.
There are 7 TSC teachers including the HT and the school
expects one more which will almost bring it up to full strength. The parents will only have to pay for one
teacher but will be encouraged to continue their payments to the school for
other priorities.
School hopes that CDF will do a new fence and dining room.
The TAS funded banda will be next to the library.
Conmservation:
The school has done a litter pick in the village. The trees planted in the school compound are
mostly still alive.
A Conservation day is planned with guest speakers, films and
input from women who are being trained to build ecohouses.
GMA will explore posters for the schools.
Funding
TAS funds of 285,000/- will be sent shortly to the new Karui
Limited account in Nairobi for onward distribution for a shade banda.
