Present:

Minutes:

MEETING AT EL RAR PRIMARY SCHOOL ON

21 OCTOBER 2018

PRESENT:

Benjamin Mwanz HT,  David M. Gachoki.

In attendance:  Stephen Kameti, Gill Marshall-Andrews

Apologies:  David Kombe TAS El Rar treasurer

School update:

There are 80 students on roll plus 49 ECD children.

There is no ECD building on the compound. The nursery children use one of the primary classrooms with desks that are much too large.  GMA agreed to contact the MCA Ibrahim Saleh (majority leader) to discuss the possibility of the county building one.

There are 3 TSC teachers and one ECD teacher funded by the county.  There are no BOM teachers.  There is one volunteer who covers the religious studies (Muslim) curriculum as all the other teachers are Christian.

The new TAS funded kitchen and storeroom is in use.

The TAS funded cupboards are being built currently.  They are substantial!

From January 2019 the school can have Standard 8 students although there is a possibility that the current class 7 may be asked to repeat class 7 as there are only 8 of them.

There is going to be an Education Day in January to boost enrolment and parent participation.

Next meeting will be in January 2019
