Minutes of the meeting at Asako Primary School Trust held on 15 November 2006
> Members present were:
Juma Ali Dido – JAD, Anthony Gross – AG, Lissa Campbell – LC, Mike Harries – MH, Tony Fitzjohn – TF, Ismail Fodho – IF and Bakari Kumora- BK standing in for Kenneth Jihoh Bonaya
1. Minutes of the last, having been read by all, were passed as correct.
2. Funding Proposals.
> The samples were not at the school as, although finished, they were stuck in Garissa due to the rain blocking the road.
> 2 female primary teachers had been identified. Their papers were examined and the trustees will meet them at the next meeting. BK is to work on the contract for them with the Head teacher and will email it through to LC and AG. The teachers are to have a 3 month probationary period and a 1 year contract. The other pre-primary teacher is to be chosen by local trustees and community from the local community and will be trained by Bare Hassan.
> Flights were discussed and funding for 4 flights for the trustees from Nairobi to Asako applied for.
3. Bank account. AG to set up a bank account with KCB in Garissa under the name of Asako Primary School Trust. JAD, TF, MH and LC to be signatories. This will assist Juma in paying the teachers’ salaries and other necessary expenditure.
4. Communications. HF Radio discussed. MH to talk to Palle Rune about obtaining a licence. If he succeeds TF to donate a radio to the school and JAD to communicate with MH at certain call times. Radio would be charged using solar panel.
5. AOB – MH said he had bought his GPS so as to be able to quote for the cost of pipes from the windmill to the school. He also brought his foreman up with him to examine the well as it will be him doing the work on it. Transport of materials to the well may be an issue as it is uncertain whether KWS will provide transport as previously agreed.
6. Next meeting – 10 January in Garissa. This will enable all the trustees to meet the teachers, see the samples of the desks and meet the lorry driver who will transport the desks. JAD to email with where meeting to be held.
