Minutes:

MEETING AT KASELUNI PRIMARY SCHOOL ON 19 JANUARY 2021

Present:

Mr Mbiri M Daniel,  Headteacher,

Mr Mutharu Alex  Deputy Headteacher

Stephen Kameti  TAS/KWS co-ordinator

Gill Marshall-Andrews  TAS UK.

School update:

The school started back in October with class 4 and 8.

All class 4 reported (9 boys and 12 girls).  All but 1 class 8 reported.

KCPE will be taken by 14 class 8 students in March for the first time in the school.

When the school opened fully in January there were 100 boys on roll and 88 girls.

Teachers:

5 TSC teachers

4 BOM teachers.

Projects:

The fence is excellent – transforming.  The trees have grown fast and now don’t need watering

A new batch will be planted when the rain comes. The tree caretaker has done an excellent job and the trees have grown a lot.  It is hoped that his contract can be renewed for another year.

The ASDF tank is a huge success.  Very well constructed and due to be painted on 23 January.  On that day the school will receive training in soap making.

The TV is being used by students, teachers and the community.  The school pays 1000/- to have internet access with ZUKU.  The HT will organise a programme of use for the TV.

The school will write proposals for bandas for students and staff and apply to CDF and MP for 2 more classrooms.  There are currently 3 mud rooms remaining.

Water:

There is currently no water in any of the tanks on site – the students are carrying water from home for drinking and the school is buying water for washing and cooking.

COVID

The government has provided handwashing tanks and 50 desks are promised.

The TAS Covid mitigation project items are in use – sports and gardening equipment etc.
