the Chair.
2 Minutes of the meeting on 1 September were
agreed.
3. School and
country update
Stephen Kameti and
GMA presented his report which gave an update on Kenya and the schools.
Key points concerned:
Mitamysi Secondary School where the Principal
has been transferred following a boycott by
students amid a breakdown of relations with the parents and the wider
community. We hope for a new person with
commitment and integrity.
Asako Primary
where there is a new Principal with promise.
Kora Secondary
school where there is a new Principal known to and respected by GMA.
3. Property Race Day
At a meeting
with the PRD committee we were assured that they will continue their support
for existing charities and will not be taking on any others. They expect to hold the event in July 2022
and hope that this will be a bumper year with significant funding to distribute
in the autumn.
4. Finance and
Bank
Sangdeep presented
his report on current finances showing a balance of £22k of which around £9k is ring fenced for Mitamysi,
£10k for Stephen Kameti. Around £3k is
unrestricted. A further sum has been
received in Gift Aid of which £4k will
be sent to Loldia as that is the GA on the £16k we received for the Loldia
dining hall.
The problems
with Barclays Bank Mandate Change Team were described at length!
(Post meeting note:
we have now been notified that the mandate changes have been effected
and all that remains is for Sangdeep to get on line banking access.)
5. Proposals
for funding
On Stephen
Kameti’s advice funding was agreed for several small projects totalling around
£1k which are motivating and morale boosting.
