MEETING AT KORA SECONDARY SCHOOL

15 FEBRUARY 2022

Present:

Rosaniah Maro  Principal

Joseph Mwangi  Senior teacher

Justine Njeru  Deputy Principal

Ismail Solola  BOM Chair

Stephen Kameti  TAS

Gill Marshall-Andrews  TAS UK

School update:

The school looks good.  The fencing has transformed the compound with lots of trees.  The government has built a lab and some staff houses.   There is clearly an expectation that this school will grow.

There are 130 students – 83 boys and 47 girls on roll.  They are being asked to accept 2 streams of entry plus the Junior High students Class 7 and 8  who will be transferred  from primary school when the Competency Based Curriculum kicks in.  At present they do not have the boarding capacity for all these students so maybe the government will build more dormitories.

The two TAS projects currently funded are the geological  surveyor for a borehole and the library.  These will be hugely important.

It also looks as if the World Bank might bring power to the village.

Exam results:

2019  Mean score  1.9   19 candidates

2020 MS  2.5  29 candidates

2021 MS target  3.5  35 candidates.  This exam will be taken in March 2022 .
