Minutes from Trustees Meeting
12/01/2024

Present:

Minutes:

NOTES OF A VISIT TO LOLDIA PRIMARY SCHOOL ON 12 JANUARY 2024

Present:

Joseph Njeru  Headteacher

Gill Marshall-Andrews

Apologies:  Ben Arentz due to illness.

School update:

School roll is currently 2047 plus 212 in ECD (PP1 and PP2)

KCPE results:

2023  MS 259 with 254 candidates

2022  MS 251  with 217 candidates

2021  MS 258  with 239  candidates

So the results are pretty static.   But 4 girls were admitted to National Schools which is cause for celebration.

School fees are as follows:

ECD  KES 1400 per term.  This is quite high and is due to the employment of 3 additional teachers in addition to the 3 provided by the county.

Class 1 – 8  KES 500 per term.    This is fairly low and is due to the sponsorship by local flower farms which removes the need for parents to fund additional teachers.  The fees are paying for transport,  accommodation and food in connection with Sports and Music events.

Students are now not allowed to leave the compound during lunch time so there have been no pregnancies last year.  160 are provided with lunch at 400 KES per month.  The rest of the students bring a packed lunch.

The playing field is sadly now devoid of grass despite the rain.  This is because so many local teams from the community use it and because the chief allows goats to graze on it.  Also the fence is inadequate.   The only solution would be for another sports field to be donated by a local flower farm for community use.  This would allow the school field to recover.

Closing down of TAS.

GMA explained that TAS will be closing down this year so no further projects are likely to be funded by us.  JN thanked us for our long term support, particularly for the staff room and the dining hall.
