USUENI GIRS SCHOOL TRUST – MINUTES OF FIRST TRUSTEES MEETING AND INAUGURATION OF THE TRUST
Trustees Present: Mrs Hellen Ndeti, Mrs Muthengi – Principal and Mr Musembi Muthusi (Teacher)
Absent with apology

In attendance: Kyania Nzili(Lawyer) and Sanjmi Kent- Both Externa tustrees Kalumu, Lissa Camphell –External trustee Asako, Harriet Matsaert -External trustee Mivukoni, Stephen Kameti (TAS)- Chairing the meeting, Joseph Nyongesa ) Warden Kora/Mwingi, Njoki Kimotho –External trustee Ikathima, and Angeline Mbula Trustee Mivukoni.
START: The meeting started around 8:30am
OPENING REMARKS
Stephen Kameti (SK) briefed the members on the day’s meeting matters being to:-
* Allow the external trustees familiarize themselves with their schools.
* Inauguration of the trustees/ trusts
* Delineate way forward of the trust
INAUGURATION OF THE TRUST
Lissa Campbell(LC) briefed members on the operation guidelines of Trust and trustees within the school trust.
Mr Kyania Nzili(KN) briefed on the legal matters of the trust.
Additional teacher as a trustee: Due to necessity of popular teacher representation in the school trust, Mr Musembi Muthui was then nominated to join the trust by the school teaching staff.
Bank signatories: It was agreed that Mrs Hellen Ndeti(HN) , Ms Kyambi Kvali (KK) and Mr Musembi Muthui(MM) will be signatories to the account. All cheques should be signed by the external trustee Mrs Hellen Ndeti and one of the two trustees. All of the above signed the bank form except Ms Kyambi who is outside the country until end of June. Will sign immediately she is in the country
Additional Parents Rep. It was agreed that there is need for parents’ representative. Somebody who has student(s) in the school.
ANNOUNCEMENT
SK Informed members British institute has already donated some book shelves for the school library and their transportation from Nairobi to the schools has been finalized through Mwingi Drought Monitoring Office.
WAY FORWARD
Trust deeds custodians; lawyer to make three copies per each school trust. To be distributed in the following manner (not in priority): School Trust, TAS Office and Lawyer Copy.
SK to make follow up for other trust members who had not signed the trust deed for them to sign respectively.
LK and LC To finalize with the opening of the bank accounts
Parent’s representative addition; The Principal was requested to look for a parent representation to join the Trust.
Next meeting; 13th September or there about when Gill Marshall Andrews will be visiting Kenya.
