IKATHIMA PRIMARY SCHOOLTRUSTEES INAGURATION MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 13.20 pm. Mr. Mutemi was called upon to lead the opening prayers. After self introductions and brief remarks from the present trustees and those in attendance, the school head teacher Mr. Mughi called on Mr. Stephen Kameti to lead the meeting. Mr. Kameti said the first thing was to agree on whether we wanted to form this trust of which all those present agreed and assured him they were ready. Mr. Kameti then explained that all the work done by the trustees would be on voluntary basis. If the members were to meet in stations other than their own, their transport costs and if necessary accommodation would be taken care of.
As the head teacher is usually very busy with administrative duties, it was decided that another teacher will be elected to the trust. Mrs. Stella Munyoki, the only female teacher, was proposed, and approved by three of the present teachers.
Mr. S. Musyoki was proposed to chair the Trust meetings and approved.
A trust account would be opened, and the signatories would be the secretary Ms. N. Kimotho with either Mr. S. Munyoki (Chair) or Mrs. S. Munyoki.
Mrs. L. Campbell talked of the trust and the work done in other areas such as Asako. She introduced a form which the elected members should fill prioritizing their needs, before the Trust meetings. The forms would be forwarded to the UK Trust for approval and possible funding. She recommended that we start with small projects, moving on to major ones one day.
Mr. Nzili explained about Trusts, how they work and what it means.
After the explanation, he said anybody who wanted to pull out was free to do so, but all the appointed members were happy with their expected roles and opted to stay on.
Mr. Nzili then led the signing of the required documents to enable registration.
There being no other issues, the meeting was closed at around 2.40 pm.
