TAS to support Jarajara Primary School -across the Tana River
14/09/2015

TAS is in the process of taking on the support of 4 new schools in the remote and beautiful area around the Tana River and Kora National Park. One of them is particularly inaccessible. Getting to Jarajara Primary School by road is extremely difficult - a full 4 hours from Garissa which in turn is 6 hours from Nairobi.By far the quicker route is across the Tana River from Asako Primary School which is one of the primary schools we have been supporting for 5 years.  Here we see Stephen Kameti, TAS' man on the ground, embarking on a boat which has recently been repaired with funds from TAS.

Jarajara Primary School has 286 students and 8 permanent classrooms.  However, students walk for many miles each day - as do the teachers.  There is a real need for staff houses, dormitories, solar power, fencing and curriculum resources.
