Jarajara - a school on the move!
30/10/2016
TAS investment of a kitchen and girls dormitory in Jarajara Primary School has attracted more support from elsewhere. UNICEF has put in a jiko (energy saving stove) in the kitchen and bought 40 bunk beds and 80 mattresses; CDF has allocated funds for a boys dormitory. Suddenly the school is moving fast!A tree planting project has been hugely successful with groups of children being responsibile for a tree - collecting water from the river to keep it alive. The next project is a library / resource centre. The local trust chairlady Sahara Aden Hussein said to Gill Marshall-Andrews on a recent visit" I tell the girls in school that 'this is our time'". Given that this is a very remote school with an entirely Somali population this has to be good news! |
