Boka community partners school to build new fence
22/01/2021

Boka Primary School has dire need of a new stronger fence to protect the compound from camels, wildlife and squatters.  The existing fence has been broken down over the years and no longer affords the school the protection it needs. The Headteachers contract with the Teachers' Service Commission requires him to plant 100 trees a year but he would like to do much more. Until he gets a new fence this will not be possible. The few trees planted during a Conservation Day in 2019 are mostly still thriving but they need to be protected individually with thorn bushes which is difficult.

This is a big school with over 500 children and  a big compound, so a new fence would require an estimated 150 concrete posts.  The school has budgeted for 40 and the parents have now agreed to fund a further 40.  When these are in place we hope TAS will provide another 40 which will leave only 30 to go!
This is the first partnership of this sort for Boka and we hope it will be the first of many.
