Stephen Kameti (left) is now well established in his post in Mwingi. He has been provided with an excellent office by the Kenya Wildlife Service within the District Commissioner's compound. Good communications and transport are being set up and progress has been made in the identification of 4 very needy schools. Suitable trustees are being sought from the community and elsewhere.
All the schools are located in the constituency of the Vice President Stephen Kalonzo who has committed himself to providing matching funds for all building projects in the schools. His wife Pauline (in picture left), is also very supportive of TAS. She is seen here with Kameti on a recent visit delivering a lorry -load of food to villages in the district.
Drought and the failure of crops has caused severe and widespread hunger in the area. Rain is supposed to be on the way but it will be months before its effect is felt in this extremely poor part of Kenya.
