Harambee raises 2.8m Kes (£23,000) for dormitories
16/09/2009

The students, parents and Board of Governors of Mivukoni Secondary School in the very dry and remote area north of Mwingi set about raising funds over the summer.  Girls  were sleeping 3 to a bed in the existing overcrowded accommodation and 2 new dormitories were urgently needed.  Harambees were held in Nairobi and Mombasa and over £23,000 was raised.  A tremendous effort!

The next development phase will be for the local trust to get tenders for staff accommodation and present them to TAS for consideration.  The Constituency Development Fund is being approached for matched funding for this project.
