Kenya Vice President's Vist
30/11/2009

On 30 November 2009, His Excellency Stephen Kalonzo, Vice President of Kenya and Her Excellency Mrs Pauline Kalonzo paid us the great honour of attending a TAS reception in the House of Commons.

The 4 most recent school trusts established last summer are all in the Vice President's constituency of Mwingi North.  The schools are all extremely remote, drought ridden and very poor. We are raising funds for such things as classroom refurbishment, science laboratory, library, solar power, kitchen and fuel efficient cookers and much more.

The support and commitment of the Vice President and his wife is of enormous importance to us and TAS  trustees are most grateful to them for making the journey over to UK for the event.

We were also delighted to welcome to the reception Douglas Alexander MP Secretary of State for Department of International Development.  The interest of DfID in the TAS model of operation is very encouraging.
