For 4 years the children of Boka Primary school have had to sit on the floor. Now they have desks funded by TAS - and are delighted. They also have a consignment of books donated by the Nation newspaper. Support for this school and its excellent headteacher is very much a partnership matter with local companies and agencies, such as Kenya Wildlife Service, working together to help improve the lot of children in this very remote area.
In the past Boka has seen some troubling conflict between the pastoralists with their huge herds of cow and goats and the conservationists of KWS in nearby Kora National Park. Joint projects to support the community, and in particular the children will, it is hoped, help to promote good relationships for the benefit of the wildlife and the community.
