On 3 October 2011, 2 young British lawyers, Ed Sherrington and Laura McNally, arrived at Usueni Girls Secondary School for 2 months voluntary work. Their reception was wildly enthusiastic - both students and staff were delighted to see them. They settled in to a programme of classroom teaching and after school activities, including sport, discussion, debate and watching DVDs.
Sadly their visit had to be curtailed due to family illness back home and they left after only 3 weeks. The excitement and inspiration their short visit engendered will be of lasting benefit to the girls and to the school in general. They hope to return next year and everyone hopes the success of the visit will encourage other volunteers to come to the school.
